National Centre for Farmer Health

Story

Farmers, rural communities, health professionals and supporters please Run 4 Farmer Health at this year’s Melbourne Marathon on the Sunday 14 October 2018 and help us improve the health, wellbeing and safety of those living on the other side of the fence.

We are calling on every rural and city person alike to join us on Sunday 14 October for #Run4FarmerHealth. This will be a show of strength, determination and courage to continue the work of National Centre for Farmer Health (NCFH).

This show of support will highlight yet again to both sides of government the importance of the NCFH and its role of improving the health, wellbeing and safety of farmers, their workers and their families.

The Run 4 Farmer Health team believe this campaign will continue to raise awareness of the crucial role the NCFH has played in delivering physical, practical and mental health wellbeing for rural and regional people. It will also support our ongoing work.

Join Run 4 Farmer Health and choose from a variety of distance and capability options. Everyone can join in.

National Centre for Farmer Health (Western District Health Service)

The National Centre for Farmer Health (NCFH) is a partnership between Western District Health Service and Deakin University and is based in Hamilton, Western Victoria.

Established in 2008, the centre encompasses university research, service delivery and education that provides leadership in improving the health, wellbeing and safety of farm men, women, their families and rural communities across Australia.

Focussing on prevention and early identification of risk factors associated with farming populations, the NCFH develops timely, appropriate, effective and popular interventions often working in partnership with industry, rural organisations and academia.

The NCFH team includes professionals from the health, agricultural, social sciences and information technology disciplines who have proven capacity to deliver in the areas of education, training, applied research and community engagement.
